All the trips will follow similar format

I will assess the weather:

  • on Wednesday & Thursday Evening prior to the trip to determine which location will best suit the trip

  • I will email you on Thursday Evening the beach we will meet at for the coming Saturday

On the Day of the trip,

  • we will meet at the designated beach at the “Meet at beach time

  • help each other off load the boats, and get ready, have a beach brief and set off “On water time”.

  • The distance will not be a factor – as we will go in one direction for approximately ½ the time, have a break and then head back

  • We will try stay together as a group, so we will paddle to the pace of the slowest person

  • The “Off the Water” is the approximate time we return to the launch.

The first trip we will spend some time (if required) revisiting:

  • Your boat set-up: Are you comfortable yet stable in your boat i.e. Foot pedals, Back rest etc.

  • The gear needed to be safe and where you locate this in/on your boat.
  • The responsibilities of the leader and of the participants.

Yakity Yakkers should be carrying basic clothing and safety equipment in their boats on all trips. See Basic Day Trip Kit

Food – for day trips

  • Full day trip: Snacks (like muesli bars & fruit), Lunch & thermos for hot drinks

  • ½ day trip: Snacks (like Muesli bars & fruit) & thermos for hot drinks
  • Hydration i.e. water in camel pack in your buoyancy aid or water bottle that can be attached to your deck lines. If it is not attached, expect to lose it at some point.

You will also need to bring food and drink.
