NSYY Lake Rotoiti Hot Spots 23 ~ 25 September 16

Lake Rotoiti

A chance to explore the highlights of the Rotorua’s biggest lake, Rotoiti featuring hot springs, moss encrusted rocks, staying at Okere Falls Holiday Park.
Friday night meet at the Holiday Park – eat enroute or cook at the camp.
Saturday – launch from the lake edge at the camp, explore an inlet or headland or two, cross over to the Manupirau Springs for a soak in the hot pools. Paddle back via Wairau Bay. (16 km)

Dinner – shared meal - pot luck, state your ‘signature dish’ or be given a suggestion.

Sunday – break camp, and drive to the other end of the lake, to Hinehopu. Paddle along the NE edge of the lake beside the rocks dripping with mosses and ferns to Tokerau Bay and return to Hinehopu.
Plan B’s – Lake Okataina, Lake Rotoehu may be sheltered when Rotoiti is not.

Plan C’s – plenty of options in Rotorua district from walking Lake Okataina track, to shopping at The Outdoorsman before exploring the Redwood forest to doing tourist activities such as Wingspan or Zoom Zipline...then there’s the hot pools.
