Friday 7 – Sunday 9  December 2018

Suitable for:  Beginners and more experienced. Novices if they would be happy to paddle in choppy seas for up to three hours in the case of poor weather.

Trip Leader:  Lindsay Duncan

Trip Details:

This is the traditional WN club Christmas trip and pot luck dinner.

On Friday we will catch the 0900 Interislander to Picton arriving at 1230. The ferry costs $56 (web saver – non-refundable) each way for foot passengers plus $15 each way for a kayak on trolley wheels. We will be able to leave our trolleys in Picton.

Alternatively you could hire a kayak in Picton and you would not need to pay for a kayak on the ferry or need a trolley. See Marlbourgh Sounds Adventure.

We will paddle the eight kilometres to Mistletoe Bay Eco Lodge and stay in the whares. See www.mistletoebay.co.nz.

On Saturday we will go for a local paddle with a stop at a café for lunch (or you could BYO). Saturday tea will be a shared pot luck Christmas dinner at the Eco Lodge.

Sunday we will paddle back to Picton in time to catch the 1415 ferry back to Wellington, arriving at 1745.

Logistics:

Paddlers will need to take all of their own food and drinks for the trip. Drinking water is available at the lodge.

The Eco Lodge has a small shop and full kitchen facilities.
The are fridge/freezers, full gas ovens and cooktops we can use. Pots & pans, crockery and cutlery is also provided in the lodge kitchen.

The whares sleep four people comfortably (two sets of bunks) at $45 per head per night.  Whares each have an ensuite bathroom with shower. Bed linen can be provided if requested from the lodge in advance.

Four Whares have been tentatively reserved but we must confirm numbers by Monday 12 November.

Places on the trip are limited accordingly. On the other hand, a minimum of ten paddlers will be required for the trip to take place. People going must book their own ferry tickets and pay for the Eco Lodge accommodation in advance on a non-refundable basis. Once paddlers have registered their interest accommodation arrangements will be confirmed and they will be advised.
