Sea Kayaking, White Water Kayaking, Kayak Fishing & Kayak Surfing
Welcome to the kayak club of Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty region. If you're reading this then you've already made the first step to taking your kayaking interest further, whether you've already kayaked before or an absolute beginner, our kayak club is a friendly place to learn to kayak, develop your skills at your pace and really discover some amazing kayaking destinations in New Zealand that you probably didn't know existed or wouldn't paddle on your own.
The Yakity Yak Kayak Club is unique. In joining our club in the BOP you are also joining the other yakity yak clubs around New Zealand. This gives you the opportunity to access trips being run across the country and meet some amazing people.
Our club in the Bay has many opportunities to get you out on the water, whatever you fancy and whatever your level of ability. We have members with sit-on tops, fishing kayaks, sea kayaks, white water kayaks, canoes and multisport kayaks. Essentially it's your choice as to which side of kayaking interests you and which trips you'd like to go on. All we ask is that you complete a Canoe & Kayak skills course first so that you have the foundation skills required for you to be safe on the water. This is as much for the safety others as well as yourself. These courses will also give you the confidence to do more than you expected and perhaps do trips you wouldn't have considered before, safe in the knowledge you are surrounded by like minded, experienced, supportive people and trained leaders and instructors.
We have members from 14yrs - 80+yrs so no matter what you're age or ability, we guarantee you'll find trips to suit you. Membership is just $75 a year, $115 for couples & families.

Keen to join the trips and get involved? Email Estelle at firstname.lastname@example.org
All attendees need to be current club members and have completed a Canoe & Kayak 2 day sea kayak skills course.
NB: The BOP regional trip Co-ordinator is Estelle Leyshon. During the month of May she is moving house to fulfill her dream of a rural property for all her animals, so all trips will be put on hold until June. However, there will be a house-warming party planned at some point in May and members will be invited to come along and celebrate.
