Kawau Is – Music in the Gardens

A fun weekend, based at Kawau Island. Main event is called ‘Music in the Gardens” staged at Mansion House and grounds, Bon Accord Harbour on the Saturday. Bring your dancing shoes…and your walking shoes!

Come on over on Friday night for some island hopping on Saturday morning. Staying at “Hendy’s Roost” marae style or camping at the neighbours.

Friday night – meet at Martins Bay 6.00pm, on the water 6.30pm, and paddle to Poplar Bay (western end of Stockyard bay) Kawau Is. (7kms). Get to Kawau about 8.00pm. Eat beforehand or bring your own dinner.

Saturday: Lots of options - island hop to the Coppermine, Beehive Is, Motuketekete, Moturekareka (20km) and return to Poplar Bay.

Saturday early aft/ night – catch a charter boat to Mansion House for “Music in the Gardens”. Featuring Conscious Music Collective Wine, Sal Valentine and the Baby Shakes, Sarah van Zyl. Craft Beers and local wines, cheese, antipasto platers, mussel fritters, sausages, and ham baps will be available.

Some stalls – books to wooden bowls, silent and live auction. This is a fund-raising event for KERT (Kawau Emergency Response Trust), so bring some dosh! (No BYO alcohol).

Sunday: in the morning go for a bush walk, have lunch, then explore the Harbour… (after the mangroves there is a ‘secret’ lagoon…) before paddling back to cars.

Bring: Usual safety & kayaking kit, sleeping bag, and tent if you miss out on a mattress.

Your own breakfasts and lunches and Friday dinner. Wallet.

Walking shoes/boots. Togs & towel. Clothes to wear to the concert.

Wheels if you have them, for Martins Bay LT launching.
