NSYY Practice Waiake Beach 18 Dec 16

Date :- Sunday 18th December 2016.

Location:- Waiake Bay North shore,

Requirement:- completed the skills course, usual safety equipment as per club trip.

Time:-  9.30am for 10am on water. We aim to be off water by 4.00pm, but you can come and join in for as much or as little as you wish. We will have a lunch stop either in the cove or back on Waiake beach depending on requirements of those attending. You can attend for as much time as you wish if we have left the beach you will find us See Below

The aim of the day is a practice day and we will paddle around the Tor (little land spit just of the beach) heading north into Winstones cove and spend time practicing the different tools within your toolbox, all things you know from your skills course, any many that have never been used since then.

This includes Self rescue, two-man rescue, we will also include leg over rescue, all the different paddle strokes. ( sweep, Draw, rear ruder, reverse paddle).I will hopefully take around a old polo boat so those that can roll and want to practice with that may do so before rolling there own sea kayak. We will also have some fun trying different things. This is an informal day and you practice what you wish to practice and with whoever you wish to practice

Note this is a PRACTICE DAY ONLY, this is not an instructional day, those that are more competent with different techniques will aid those that are less competent and point out possible improvements to techniques used. You will get wet so make sure you have the appropriate clothing, and warm drinks. (Note the café in Waiake has now closed and the only place to get coffee is either BrownsBay or Torbay shops)
