MOTUORA BEACH DAY
Motuora Beach Day
Sunday 20th Jan with North Shore

Richard Saysell will be running a very relaxed Trip to the beautiful Still Bay Beach on the South Eastern Corner of Motuora Island for a Fun in the Sun day on Sunday 20th Jan leaving from Wenderholm .
The plan is to meet at 10:00 for a 10:30 departure from the beach (not the usual boat ramp) at Wenderholm regional park (Turn right from the old SH1 1K past Waiwera) and paddle the 7.5 K to Motuora Island. Once there around 11:30 its relaxation time with great swimming and snorkelling, a nice sandy beach to play on, rock pools to examine, tracks around the Island for a walk, or just relax with a book under the overhanging trees.
Plan to leave for the return trip around 3 PM so we should be back by 4:30.
Skill level required is Paddle Fit Intermediate ,but remember there is a good chance that in one direction we will be heading into the wind for 1 ½ hours
Bring,
Wheels to get from the car park to the beach if you have them.
Standard Day Kayaking Safety equipment
Plenty of water and other refreshments
Sunscreen and sun hat.
Sun shelter if desired
Lunch
Snorkel facemask and fins if desired
Beach play gear if desired
Walking shoes and clothing if a walk is planned
Plan B will be a coastal paddle into the Maharangi Harbour if the conditions are not suitable for the off shore paddle to the Island.
