Date: 23 / 24 March
Location: Taupo
Trip Name: Taupo Taster
North Shore Leader: Ruth Henderson - ruth_e@farmside.co.nz 021 298 8120
Taupo Leader: Laura of C&K

Fri 22.
Arrive Taupo. Eat on the way. (North Shore paddlers, up to 10, to stay at Jude's....others to book into either Top 10 Holiday Park or De Bretts camping ground)

Sat 23:
At start point 8.30 a.m.. On water 9.00 a.m
Paddle from Jerusalem Bay to Kinloch or vice versa depending on the wind.
Taupo C&K will help with transporting boats and people back as this is a one way trip.
The TOTAL distance is 25 km HOWEVER, there is an alternative  for the paddlers who wish a shorter option.
They would stop at  Whakaipo Bay which is 15 km, have their lunch, relax, fish, swim etc. We would collect them as we pass by car from Kinloch.
Off water by 5 pm.

Apparently the Hot Pools at De Bretts are Devine

Saturday dinner
BBQ at Jude's for all.
Taupo will coordinate this and ask for whatever we think is a fair contribution for food. $15? That's a guess.
We could distribute any left over funds the next day for lunch.
It will be BYO drinks.

Sunday 24:
On water by 10.
Paddle Orakei Korako, part of the Waikato River and walk up the gap through a stream to a warm waterfall.
Lunch either on the  shore or at a simple cafe along the way.
Distance: Not sure at this stage but a shorter paddle. No more than 15 total.
Finish by 3. Details to come.

We have some alternatives for weather glitches.
We have sheltered Lake Hinemaiaia for  a 4 hour experience, 2 of those on the water. Gorgeous.
If we have a feisty southerly, we can paddle at the south of the lake from Little Waihi to Kuratau and up the Kuratau River.
