Glow Worm Magic Paddle

P1030911-621

SATURDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER

Join one of the local paddling highlights of the Tauranga region and enjoy an evening of sunsets, impressive glow worms and stars.

Lake McLaren, tucked away in the Kaimai Ranges, offers a sheltered lake full of adventure and mystery. Meeting before sunset at the lake shores at Cherry Bay, we'll prepare ourselves for a night time adventure up the lake and in to the Glow Worm canyon.

You'll MUST have a head torch, ideally with a red beam option, so you can see without blinding each other.

As the sun fades your eyes will adjust to the dark and you'll become aware of the new smells and sounds that become evident as it gets dark. Paddling up the lake we'll paddle across the flow from the Mangapapa Power station and in to the hidden canyon. Here, the canyon is lit by thousands of glow worms which are truly spectacular. On the way back we'll float back down the lake and enjoy the stars above us. Simply amazing if you've not done it before.
