Sun 18th June
Launching from the northern end of Waihi Beach, we'll head north and explore the cliffed coastline of the Orokawa Scenic Reserve. A beautiful sea paddling trip on our doorstep. Plenty of isolated beaches to choose from for a lunch stop. We aim to cover around 15km there and back, but please note we could paddle up to 22km if we can't land on the smaller beaches, in which case we'll head further north to a more sheltered sandy beach.
The trip will be dependent on the wind and swell being at a minimum to make the most of exploring the coastline and for ease of beach landing. This trip will be suitable intermediate or fit beginners, happy to beach land.
Meet directly at the car park at the northern end of Waihi Beach at 10am, on water for 10:30am. Hire kayaks available from Canoe & Kayak in the Mount but you will need to transport them yourselves.
Aim to be off the water by 4pm.
PLAN B if too much swell:
Tanners Point to Katikati one way trip
All attendees need to be current club members and have completed a Canoe & Kayak 2 day sea kayak skills course.
