Christmas Escape

Six of us launched at Sullivan's Bay on a glorious Xmas morning.  We headed over to Motuora under clear blue skies, with a 5 knot variable wind.  There was just a tiny bit of swell which enabled a bit of rock gardening around the seaward side of the island before we stopped at Still Bay, the world's most beautiful beach.  Clear water, white sand, flowering pohutakawa trees, tui singing, and no people.  Well, only us until a launch pulled in, but they were decent enough to go to the far end of the beach and we could pretend that they weren't there.

We sat under the trees and had our picnic including ham, salad, champagne, strawberries, and mallowpuffs - what a feast.  After a bit of swimming and dozing, we roused ourselves enough to practise some rescues and rolling before heading over to circumnavigate Moturekareka and sit on another beach for a while.  After a leisurely paddle back to Sullivan's, and other swim, we headed home.  Another perfect day in Paradise.
