Westhaven to Point Chevalier
Sunday 8 February. Leader is Graeme.
Meet 10am, on the water for 10.30am. Meet at Westhaven Marina outside Yachting New Zealand, 86 Westhaven Drive. Launch from the floating jetty. Paddle under the Harbour Bridge and along to Point Chevalier. Optional detour up Motions Creek on the way which ends up at the back of the zoo (2km each way). This stretch of coastline includes Te Tokoroa Reef, or more commonly referred to as Meola Reef. Lunch at Point Chevalier Beach then return.
Parking at Westhaven - park in the white spaces only, observe parking restrictions - read the signs!
Distance is approximately 15km, suitable for beginners. There will be a few hire kayaks available which can be transported.
Usual safety gear, plus ensure that you are as visible as possible - this is a high boat traffic area.
