Whangaroa Harbour, Northland

Queen's Birthday weekend, 30 May - 2 May.  Leader is Rob

UPDATE
Change of accommodation - We will be staying at Tauranga Bay Holiday Park, Tauranga Bay Road, 09 4050436 http://www.taurangabay.co.nz/welcome
They do not accept bookings, first in first served, but there is plenty of space at this time of year.

Note that the water supply at this campground can be a bit dodgy and may need boiling.  Strongly recommend that you take your own drinking water, about 3 litres per day.

Paddling options include Whangaroa Harbour, Dukes Nose, St Pauls, Jellicoe Cave, Stephenson's Island, Tauranga Bay, Taupo Bay etc.  This harbour is quite sheltered so should be able to paddle regardless of conditions.

Getting there - From Auckland, follow State Highway 1 past Whangarei, heading to Kerikeri. Follow State Highway 10 north out of Kerikeri to reach Kaeo.  Just past Kaeo you will find the right hand turn off to both Whangaroa Harbour and Tauranga Bay. Follow the Tauranga Bay Holiday Park signs for around 10 minutes.

We will have a shared dinner on Saturday night. There is also the option of dinner at Whangaroa Big Game Fish Club or Whangaroa Pub. You should also take a helmet if you are planning to go rock gardening.

Suitable for strong beginners.  We will organize car pooling if required.
Gear list available from the shop.
