A weekend in the Thermal district

This is a flat water trip and suitable for strong beginners. Saturday is approximately 20 km downhill with the flow of the Waikato. Sunday is about 12 km on Lake Taupo.

Friday night we meet in a house in Taupo. Self catering dinner as folk will be arriving from late afternoon onwards.  Carole is booking a bach in north Taupo which will hold ten. First in first serve. Ring Joya at the shop 09-262-0209 to book your spot.

Saturday
9:00 am at the river
9:30 am on the water
10:30 am morning coffee at the cafe opposite Orakei Korako
11:00 am paddle across to the thermal terraces
12:30 pm lunch on the side of the river
Afternoon various hot pools and a detour to look at "the squeeze" if time permits.
3:30 pm get out 
4:00 pm off the water

Evening - a shared dinner in the bach.
