General Plan

Meet at 0800 hours on Takapuna Beach (north end) next to the boat ramp. On the water by 0830 hours Paddle Takapuna Beach to McKenzies Bay on Rangitoto Island. Walk to Rangitoto summit and return to Takapuna Beach (north end). Expect to be off the water by 1300 hours

Special Requirements

Bring a towel to dry your feet and pair of walking shoes and socks.

Bring morning tea for snack at summit.

Specific safety issues for this trip are:

• The shipping lane in the Rangitoto Channel

• General boat traffic

• Currents around  the Rangitoto Lighthouse

• Submerged rocks in the vicinity of the Rangitoto Lighthouse and McKenzies Bay.
