Sunday 4 April - Easter Sunday
Leader is Pauline. Distance 8 km return (about 1 hour gentle paddle each way). Suitable for new paddlers
Meet at Narrow Neck Beach boat ramp at 10am for a 10.30am departure. Daylight savings ended early this morning, with clocks falling back 1 hour, so this will be a leisurely start to the day. Travel down the coast and around North Head to Devonport village. Option: paddle under the wharf – watching out for the ferries docking, and keeping out of the navy’s exclusion zone – before coming back to the reserve.
We’ll stop for about an hour for lunch – plenty of time to crack out the thermos & picnic lunch, or pick-up takeaway food/ coffee (public holiday surcharges might apply today). Return to Narrow Neck by around 2pm.
Bring food & drink, or money to buy something. Being autumn, something dry/ warm to pop on at lunchtime might be a good idea.
Kayak hire arrangements (including pick up, transport, return) need to be made directly with North Shore or Sandringham Canoe & Kayak stores. No kayak transport is provided on this trip.
Plan B - if the weather is not great to head down the coast, we will head up the coast to Takapuna (there is a cafe at this coast also).
