Navigation Course

Navigation Course
Learn how to get from here to there, and back again.  When you start getting a bit more adventurous with your paddling navigation becomes very important, especially if you are going offshore or you are paddling in an area new to you.

It is often easy enough to head off, but what do you do if fog, rain, or darkness means that you can no longer see exactly where you are going?

You will learn how to read a chart, take a compass bearing, calculate paddling times, and use a hand compass and a deck compass.  Bring a compass along if you have one.

This will be followed by a day on the water doing some exercises to put it all into practice.
This is always very well received, and voted to be a most excellent and educational day.

Non-members welcome.  Cost $80  (there will be a 50% subsidy for club members, and 100% subsidy for current trip leaders).

This is part of our Winter Training Programme

Thursday 6 June, at 502 Sandringham Rd, and at Sullivan's Bay for the on-water session, details to come.
