Matahui & Te Hopai Island

Tuesday 6th February - Waitangi Day

A northern Tauranga Harbour exploration of the Matahui region which includes the Aongatete River and Te Hopai Island. Matahui is the launching point to walk across to Matakana Island on the right low tides, however on Waitangi Day we have 2.0m high tides at 12:46 so perfect for a kayaking trip instead.

Meet at the very end of Matahui Road at 10am, off water by 3:00pm
Covering a distance of around 15km. Suitable for fit beginners.

Bring lunch as we'll either stop up the river or on Te Hopai Island.
